Web 3: Where Women are Remarkable

In case you haven’t noticed, it’s Women’s History Month.
And in the world of crypto and Web 3, there are many exciting projects that have female led teams. It’s one of the most exciting parts of the sector.
Recently, I caught up with the team behind Remarkable Women NFT, a leading collection created by Rachel Winter and minted by House of First. You might have seen these NFTs in your social media feed—they have a large following, and many celebrity fans.
This is one of several female-centric NFT collections I plan to highlight in this newsletter. Read on for our conversation!
Q: What roles can women play in Web 3 and crypto?
RW: Leaders. CEOs. The historical, institutional, and structural barriers for women and minorities in real life don't exist in the wed3 space. You don't need approval for entry or access, we are creating the space in our own vision, a vision that is inclusive and empowering to women and other underrepresented communities.
Q: What do you see as the biggest challenge for women in tech?
RW: Onboarding. Setting up your first Crypto wallet and buying your first NFT can be an intimidating process, and there are technical barriers to entry for those that are not tech savvy. It is important to find trusted mentors and a supportive/trustworthy community like The House of First to guide you thru the first few weeks and help with any technical roadblocks or questions. Fortunately, women in the web 3 are committed to helping new people enter the space and find safe, trustworthy projects and teams.
Q: How does the Remarkable Women NFT project bring women together?
RW: This incredible Collection from Rachel Winter features NFTs that empower and uplift women and represent women from all over the globe. The "Remarks" on the shirts are all very powerful, and the community has had an emotional response. Our community knows these NFT are a show of support for each other and women around the world. We also have a core charitable component, and we believe giving brings people together.
Q: Can you describe the charitable side of this endeavor?
RW:10% of the drop (around 20 eth / 60K) was donated to the FFWE (Fund For Women's Equality) and 10% of all time secondary sales will also go into our "Remarkable Impact Fund" a community driven fund to find and donate to causes that support women globally. We are proud to have the support of activists like Gloria Steinman, Alyssa Milano, Carol Jenkins, and S. Mona Sinha!
Q: What do you think is the future for NFTs?
RW: NFTs will be part of everyday life, from concert tickets, club memberships, licenses and more, but more important, they will provide new ways to create global communities, new ways to donate and help people, new ways for artists to share and promote art, and new ways for people to interact in the MetaVerse! This fun is just beginning, and the possibilities are endless! We are most excited for people that may be in a tough spot in real life to be able to escape to a new universe for support or comfort, even for a short time. The NFT space is a very, very supportive and welcoming space!
