Earlier this week, a curious thing happened.
A court in Columbia hosted a hearing in the metaverse. A whole hearing. It went so well that judge is open to having more hearings on the case in the metaverse, and even proceeding forward with other legal matters on the platform. She told Reuters that the metaverse hearing was more effective that a typical video chat or Zoom hearing, and overall feedback from others participants has been positive too.
Still—this is a bit of a first.
Concerts, fashions shows, events, and more have all made their way to the metaverse in the last few years, but you’d be forgiven for thinking that’s about the extent of it all. The crash in tech and the fallout in crypto have put the metaverse on the back burner for a lot of people.
But it’s still growing.
And as this hearing in Columbia showed, there are still people out there finding ways to make it all work for them.
Would you attend a hearing in the metaverse?
