Inside the Tech Folk Effort to Help Ukrainian War Victims
Plus... are you ready for Bitcoin Miami 2022?
A few weeks ago, I profiled Tech Folk and had a chance to sit down with Lance Weisser, one of the designers behind the project. I loved having the conversation, and have enjoyed getting to know Lance (his child is a classmate of my child’s at preschool).
Lance recently shared with me that he has a personal connection to the current conflict in Ukraine, and mentioned his newly launched Ukrainian Hearts project. As you can imagine, these last few weeks have been very hard for Lance and the people he cares about the most.
“It’s a really tough situation because my mother-in-law is in her 70s and is not very mobile. Getting in a vehicle today and driving to the closest border would take about 30 hours,” he said. “My wife’s best friend is also stranded in Odessa. Although we were finally able to wire some funds to both of them, it still feels very hopeless and frustrating not to be able to do anything to help.”
As a developer, Lance hopes this new NFT project can provide some relief to people who desperately need it. Funds raised by this project will be donated to the NGO operating at this address: https://nation.io/dao/ukraine
