Last week Usain Bolt made a bold sprint into the world of cryptocurrency.
He’s now the face of Step App, a move to earn platform that gamifies the fitness industry, allowing users to earn crypto and NFTs as they work on health goals.
Bolt will serve as the brand’s core ambassador, and will help onboard millions of users around the world while attracting other premium brand partners and governmental organizations who share Step App’s vision for a healthier world through Web3. Organizers say the former athlete is passionate about finding ways to intertwine financial technology and fitness, which made for the perfect ambassadorship.
“Exercise has always been, and still is a massive part of my life. When I learned what the team at Step App were building, I was instantly inspired and wanted to be part of this incredibly important global movement,” said Bolt. “I’ve said in the past that we need to aspire to inspire, and through Step App, I would love to inspire as many people as possible to live a healthier and happier life. We are just getting started!”
About 20 million users have already signed up for Step App, and the venture is just the latest foray focused on combining fitness and crypto. DeFit, Stepn, Sweatcoin, and other have also launch with varying amounts of success. And move-to-earn is certainly popular—a survey conducted by the website FitRated recently found that 80% of people would be motivated to increase their exercise if financial benefit was involved.
