Over the last two years or so, a number of sectors have moved to blockchain, NFTs, and cryptocurrency. Projects dealing with real estate, music, medical records, art, and more have all found success in using this new class of digital assets.
It follows that books would also “come on chain” so to speak.
You might have noticed that publishing has undergone a revolution of sorts in the last decade. Ebooks have become mainstream, and now generate about half of all book sales. Streaming services and subscription sites abound. Episodic reading is more than a trend.
And a whole legion of authors have viable careers that might not have existed under the terms of traditional publishing.
Amid the upheaval, a group of tech developers, crypto enthusiasts, and online personalities have started to kick around the idea of further revolutionizing the space with digital assets like NFTs and cryptocurrency. Earlier this year, the idea progressed further with the creation of Spindle, a nascent project that hopes to create more opportunities for authors and readers to connect.
